As such our degrees have been designed to equip you with the knowledge you’ll need in any organisation, large or small. On the BA/BSc (Hons) Law and Accounting degree you’ll acquire accounting skills and legal knowledge, enabling you to pursue a career in either profession or to combine the two. To be a successful accountant, you’ll need an understanding of the law, while commercial lawyers often operate in accounting and financial environments.
BA/BSc (Hons) Law and Accounting
This degree combines two of the most business critical functions, allowing you to develop both accounting skills and legal knowledge. The aim of this degree is to produce professionally focused graduates who have an in-depth knowledge of the theory and practice of accounting and law. The intellectually stimulating degree addresses the broader aspects of the business organisation and management culture, while also providing an insight into corporate and consumer legislation, corporate regulation and other legal aspects of business and enterprise. You’ll learn from practicing lawyers, business leaders and leading academics and will gain a solid understanding of the accounting and legal professions, opening doors for a multitude of career paths.
The BA/BSc (Hons) Law and Accounting course will equip you with a real understanding of how legal considerations have an impact on virtually every aspect of management activity. You’ll study both academic and practical aspects of the law, which as well as preparing you for a possible legal career, will give you many skills that are highly valued in other occupations outside of the law. Alongside the law modules, you’ll develop subject-specific skills alongside important transferable skills like communication, enterprise, problem solving and quantitative analysis.
Graduates who wish to continue their studies towards professional accreditation in the accounting profession can take advantage of a ‘fast track’ agreement with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Subject to passing the required combination of courses on your degree, you will be exempt from certain modules required on the route towards professional accreditation.
