Computing Level 3 Diploma | Computing is a key part of improving the quality of our lives, whether its mobile technology or being able to access the Internet everywhere at the touch of a button. There is always a demand for IT professionals with high-level computing skills and this demand is predicted to grow in the future. The course will teach you how to create and manage systems and programme applications for clients across a broad range of challenging industries. You can expect to discover the essential skills that IT professionals use on a daily basis: graphics, networking, database, website design and programming.

Computing Level 3 Diploma

The course is suitable for learners wanting to progress to higher education in Computing, Computer Science or related degrees and also Apprenticeships.

An Access to Higher Education course is intended to help those without level 3 qualifications can entry to a Higher Education course within the related field. Students who complete Access to HE in Computing may progress on to a related course at a number of UK universities.

The Computing Level 3 Diploma course aims to develop your understanding and competence in a range of computing modules as well as your independent study skills. All students will study a range of key areas including principles and fundamentals of computer science and computer systems, planning and management of computing projects and developing the skills and knowledge in the design and creation of software using programming languages. In addition, all students will explore areas of security, encryption and applications of social media.

Course Length: 3 – 6 months;

Start dates:  January April, July, September;

Entry requirements

  • Applicants must be 19+, motivated to study with a clear intention to progress to a higher education course;
  • There are flexible qualification requirements for admission, but all applicants will be interviewed during the admissions process.
  • Applicants will need to take a diagnostic assessment of literacy (unless already qualified to Level 2 in English and Maths)

Assessment

This is an assignment-based course and there are no exams. You will be continually assessed throughout the programme either through assessment or observation. All units are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Progression

The Level 3 qualification will enable you to pursue a career in the IT and computing industry or progress to further higher level study such as an HNC, HND or university programme, or combine working and studying on an apprenticeship which will enable you to earn while you learn.

Funding

Self-Funding

You can choose to fund this course yourself. The Tuition Fee of the course will vary depending on the institution you wish to study in, as well as your status in the UK. Please contact us to find out the tuition fee for a specific course you’d like to know about.

Government Funds – Student Finance England    

If you are an UK/EU citizen or living in the UK on Indefinite Stay, you can receive support from the government via 19+Advanced Learning Loan to cover tuition fees costs while studying, depending on your circumstances. These loans help learners aged 19 and over, to pay the fees charged by approved colleges and training organisations in England.

You can get a tuition fee loan to cover your full course fees. You only start to pay back your student loan after you finish studying and are earning over £21,000 a year.
