Encompassing a whole spectrum of art and design methods, the HND involves the pursuit of visual languages and imagery that hold particular meaning and significance to the artist/designer. You will also gain the knowledge and skills to embark on a career in the creative, design and cultural industries, opportunities for work-based learning and experience in design. This programme provides creative arts and cultural industries, an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification in two years of full-time study and a progression route to the final year of appropriate honours degree programmes.
The HND Art & Design course is designed to provide highly relevant, specialised studies utilising industry standard equipment and vocational expertise that will prepare you for a range of potential careers within the Art and Design field. Over the course of two years you will develop a substantial personal portfolio and also take part in an exhibition of your own work. In the second year you will be directed towards how to best prepare for employment within the creative industries or how to take the next step into the final year of a full degree. HND in Art & Design are followed predominately by full-time learners. They allow progression into or within employment in the art, craft and design sector, either directly on achievement of the award or following further study to degree level.
